Is the current pandemic an opportunity for advertisers?

While the world is changing its routines under the influence of new regulations the advertising and media buying space is also undergoing the transformation.

Trafficshop Team has been successfully performing remote operations since 4th March  and as we had a bit more time we analysed the current situation and trends and willing to share our observations with you 

The first thing we want to emphasize on is that the general traffic volume is growing, we are seeing a  considerable increase of mobile traffic (by 1,2 mln daily) and 10% increase of desktop traffic so far.

Our top 10 geos during these days are  India, United States, China, Germany, Italy, France, United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, Canada 

So let’s see what is attracting those isolated  and home based users all over the world online?  

These days the world tends to download more software/utilities which can help to entertain,  study, relax, enhance the work of devices (computer or smartphone), change your IP address (VPN)  it leads to utilities vertical being on fire 

Since the expenses have been cut in offline and travel is not possible at the moment online food deliveries and local online shopping (mind the possibility of shipment in certain countries) are on their winning positions at the moment 

Streaming services for gaming, videos, movies and entertainment have become very popular. Look out for offers of this vertical and  hurry up to start promoting them. 

Will Bitcoin or oil rise again? Will some currencies lose their positions over this crisis time? The interest to these markets make the cryptocurrency, forex and sweepstakes offers very hot nowadays 

Last but not least is health and mental care. The immune enhancers, any type of online trainings, longevity  boosters, survival seminars, male and female nutra products (again mind the delivery conditions for COD offers) are there to help people overcome the challenging time and thus becoming attractive for users online. 

The way we address internet surfers online by creatives and advertising has also been adjusted.

Here we would like to give a couple of advices: 

  • Don’t make it too serious, people are saddened and scared enough to see  the shocking pictures so don’t overdo it 
  • At the same time the offers/advertising message should not be ignoring the whole situation and should be up to date with the state of things in the world and certain geos in particular
  • You can use more text and longer videos as users have more time so the perception of the content improves
  • The healthcare theme is easy to attract the users with when it comes to creatives
  • The products/offers you are promoting now are better to promise/provide Immediate effect or be accessed online without waiting (trials, win now offers, magic pills)   

Adjust, stay positive, stay healthy and keep on making money with advertising!
